Residual stresses in additively manufactured AlSi10Mg: Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis

چکیده

Metal parts produced by Additive Manufacturing, and in particular Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF), suffer from residual stresses due to high thermal gradients causing cyclic expansion contraction of the alloy. This work deals with determination stress rapidly solidified AlSi10Mg samples using two non-destructive techniques: Raman spectroscopy, rapid, unconventional but applicable AlSi alloys, XRD (?-method), used as benchmark, being a classical method for determining stresses. Al level was studied both on surface LPBF interior, after in-depth sectioning. employed assess Si. The effect particle size separated distribution Si particles, making suitable study alloys containing free were evaluated also means Williamson-Hall method: are tensile type agreement among all methods. Considering alloy composite, estimated Eshelby's model, showing that larger eutectic particles undergo lower respect nanometric precipitates.

Stereochemistry determination by powder X-ray diffraction analysis and NMR spectroscopy residual dipolar couplings.

Traditional techniques for stereochemistry analysis have limitations; for example solution NMR spectroscopy has spatial limitation for the transference of stereochemical information, and suitable single crystals for X-ray analysis may not be available. Residual dipolar coupling (RDC) and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) are both techniques whose use is not yet widespread. We report a double-blin...

Measurement of Residual Stresses in Fiber Reinforced Composites Based on X-Ray Diffraction

1. ABSTRACT X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements have been made to determine residual stresses in embedded Al particles placed between the first and second ply of both unidirectional and fabric graphite/PMR-15 composite specimens. In order to further verify the results obtained, the effect of externally applied four-point bending on the measured strains and stresses in the Al inclusions was inv...

Surface analysis of dental amalgams by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.

OBJECTIVES It is important to characterize the surface of dental amalgam in order to understand the process of mercury release from amalgam restorations in the oral cavity. The mercury evaporation occurs not only from the newly made restoration but also from the set material. METHODS The surfaces of four different types of amalgams, which had been well set, were analyzed with X-ray photoelect...

Surface Hardness Measurment and Microstructural Characterisation of Steel by X-Ray Diffraction Profile Analysis

An X-ray diffraction line will broaden considerably when steels change into martensitic structure on quenching. The results presented in this paper show that X-ray diffraction technique can be employed for a rapid and nondestructive measurement of hardness of hardened steel. Measurement on various quenched and tempered steels showed that the breadth of its diffraction peak increased with increa...
